,,Success is liking yourself, doing what you like, and knowing that what you do matters.” – Maya Angelou
Success is a complex and personal concept, defined differently by each individual. It can mean achieving a goal, realizing a dream, or achieving a balance between important aspects of life. In essence, success is more than achieving material or professional achievements. It is a state of personal fulfillment, meaningful contribution, and living an authentic and harmonious life.
What makes some people where they are? We learn another story full of essence given by Andrei…
,,The year that is coming to an end, 2024, has been marked by many successes for me in the activities of the year. Among these successes, I chose to present the most important one for me: autonomy in everyday life.
The steps to obtain my autonomy, mainly from my mother, began as early as 2023, continuing into 2024, when the achievement became visible. Last year I started attending psychotherapy sessions again with a lady who gave me a lot of support in what she taught me to do. Initially, I started taking care of personal hygiene with the coordination of this lady.
Then I continued with self-management: taking out the trash, going shopping, preparing clothes to wear to the city and, later, to college. Also in 2023, I managed to learn by myself for some subjects in the first semester of Engineering, in others learning with my mother. This year I progressed, in the first semester of the second year I managed to prepare myself for all subjects at the college. Another activity that I managed to do entirely by myself in 2024 is making breakfast. At the same time, I took over the driving of the car completely from my grandfather this year, I really like driving. All these activities have one essential attribute in common: consistency.
The reasons behind achieving personal autonomy were to feel better and to be able to cope with everyday life. After becoming autonomous, I gained more confidence in myself and what I do and became more organized. The impact of this realization of being autonomous with the different dimensions of my life has been a positive one. Physically, I am healthier and have even managed to lose some weight. Mentally, the effect was obvious, I became more optimistic and less stressed and almost not bored. Emotionally, I have been able to be more resilient, successfully overcoming stress and challenges and maintaining emotional balance. Spiritually, I have been able to be more faithful, going to church on Sundays and praying, because I am grateful to God for the successes I have had.
So my recipe for success in becoming self-reliant is being consistent in being the best version of myself.”
