INSTITUTIONAL COLLABORATION

Professional visit of students from the Technical University of Moldova, Republic of Moldova, Chisinau to the Faculty of Engineering in Hunedoara

Episode 2

The program of professional visits to private companies in Romania of the student delegation from the Republic of Moldova continued on February 18 and 19, 2025 at Joyson Safety Systems Ribita Srl and the Retezat Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Anastasia…..,,Joyson KSS produces seat belts. I was really surprised by how large the dimensions are to manufacture small, but extremely important parts for cars.”

Cristian…,,We continued the journey to Joyson KSS Ribița, where we discovered another fascinating field: car safety systems. The visit opened our eyes to the complexity of these mechanisms, and the presentation was captivating and well-structured. At every stage of the tour, we felt the professionalism and passion of those who shared their knowledge with us.”

Nicolae …,,At Joyson KSS Ribița, I entered the world of car safety systems. Here, I understood the importance of airbags and seat belts, essential components for protecting the lives of drivers and passengers. I was surprised by the rigorous tests these products undergo to comply with the strictest safety standards. Discussions with experts in the field gave me a new perspective on the huge responsibility that car companies have in protecting human life.”

Cristin….,,At Joyson KSS Ribița I was impressed by the seat belt production system which is almost completely automated and by the fact that every detail of the belt production is monitored to ensure maximum passenger safety.”

Maxim 1 …...,,At Joyson KSS Ribița, a company specializing in the production of automotive safety systems, I was impressed by the high level of automation and the grouping of complex technologies in the assembly processes. The breadth of energy efficiency strategies demonstrates the role of rationalizing resource consumption in the automotive industry to optimize manufacturing processes without compromising product quality.”

The Retezat Hydroelectric Power Plant, an underground construction built between 1977-1986, is the second largest power plant on the inland rivers in the country. It is equipped with two Francis turbines, with an installed capacity of 335 MW and an average multi-annual energy of 605 GWh.

Anastasia…,,One of the places that impressed me the most was a hydroelectric power station. The process of transforming water into electricity is truly something amazing and requires large dimensions and the work of a large number of professional engineers. That day I learned many new things, some of which were even surprising to me.”

Anghelina…,,The Erasmus program included visits to several completely different enterprises, which allowed us to observe engineering from various perspectives. For example, one of the first sites visited was the Retezat Hydroelectric Power Plant. Here I learned about the principles of hydropower operation, methods of producing electricity and the importance of renewable sources. This topic particularly interested me, being a student at the Faculty of Power Engineering, because hydropower is one of the most important areas for sustainable development.”

Mihaela…,,The next visit that caught my attention was the Retezat Hydroelectric Power Plant, where I was fascinated by the way water is transformed into energy. I enjoyed learning about the technologies used to make electricity production more efficient, but also about the efforts made to protect the environment. I realized that sustainability does not only mean reducing consumption, but also the intelligent use of natural resources and more.”

Maxim 2…,,I enjoyed the visit to the Retezat Hidroelectric Power Plant the most. Until then, I had not had the opportunity to visit a hydroelectric power plant, although the Republic of Moldova has two hydroelectric power plants. I was amazed by what I saw there and I noticed the real components that a hydroelectric power plant needs, even if it is not a modern one.”

Cristian…,,A special moment was the visit to the Retezat Hydropower Plant. Right from the entrance, we were welcomed by an extraordinary professional engineer, who took us through the entire plant with a warmth and openness rarely seen. Every corner of the hydroelectric power plant hid impressive mechanisms, and the explanations received were extremely valuable. I was deeply impressed by the complexity and efficiency of the systems presented.”

Nicolae….,,Another unforgettable experience was visiting the Retezat Hydroelectric Power Plant. I have always been fascinated by renewable energy, and this visit allowed me to see up close how the force of water is transformed into electricity using Francis turbines. I admired the massive infrastructure and the advanced technology used to optimize the production of green energy.”

Cristin…..,,One of the most interesting visits was to the Retezat Hydroelectric Power Plant, where we saw for the first time how a hydroelectric power plant works and where we were explained in detail how water energy is transformed into electricity and all the steps that water must go through.”

Maxim 1.....,,Visiting the Retezat Hydropower Plant was one of the most appropriate experiences for me, in the context of pursuing the specialization I prefer. It opened up the opportunity to analyze firsthand how turbines work and the mechanisms through which water energy is transformed into electricity. The balance between the power produced and the minimal impact on the environment was unmistakable, underlining the essentiality of hydropower in the sustainable energy mix.”
