INSTITUTIONAL COLLABORATION

Professional visit of students from the Technical University of Moldova, Republic of Moldova, Chisinau to the Faculty of Engineering in Hunedoara

Episode 5

On one day, February 24, 2025, students from the Republic of Moldova had the opportunity to explore two reference enterprises in Reșița, namely Reducers and Renewables – RRR and Hydropower Machinery Construction S.R.L, UCM.
Founded in 1973 in Reșița, a manufacturer of industrial reducers, RRR is a joint-stock company with fully private capital.
RRR specialized in the production of high-power industrial reducers, perfect for installations used in the production and processing of steel, intended for the mining and cement industries, the chemical, petrochemical and plastics industries, as well as ship and rolling stock propulsion installations.
Since 1991, production capacities have expanded, including turbo and planetary reducers with high technical requirements for installations with very high speeds, such as power plants and compressors. At the same time, RRR executes various welded assemblies.
In the over 45 years of activity, working with industrial reducers, RRR specialists have designed and delivered over 10,000 units of various types.
RRR products are delivered to beneficiaries both in Romania and abroad (the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Lebanon, Iraq, India, China, etc.).

Administrator at the two companies and Executive Director at Reducers and Regenerables, President of the Board of Directors at the Reșița Iron Works Foundation and associate professor at Babeș-Bolyai University, lect. univ. dr. eng. Aurel BĂRA created a friendly technical atmosphere for the students in which the professionalism, vision and passion with which he inspires and leads by personal example for over 30 years were highlighted. The presentation provided provided a valuable perspective. Thank you for your time!

Another pleasant surprise of this day spent in Reșița was visiting the Steam Locomotive Museum established in 1972, a unique collection that illustrates the progress of almost a century of self-propelled propulsion and includes locomotives representative of the evolution of this industry. It currently has 16 locomotives from different centuries on display, 14 of which were manufactured in Reșița.

Cristin…….,, In Resita I visited a factory producing large reducers for seagoing ships, I was impressed by the advice that the Director shared about his career and what helped him become a successful person.”

Marius……,, At Resita Reducers and Renewables, I discovered the world of mechanical engineering, understanding the importance of precision in the manufacture of industrial equipment. I was impressed by the specialization of the employees and the competitiveness of the company on the global market.”

Maxim 1…..,,This company deals with the production of industrial equipment for the energy sector. I was impressed by the accuracy of the execution during the manufacturing process and by the company’s significant contribution to the modernization of the national energy infrastructure, necessary for the sustainable development of the electricity grids.”

Mihaela…..,,Our next destination was then to Resita, a city with a strong industrial tradition. Here we visited Resita Reducers and Renewables, as well as the Hydropower Machinery Construction. Each of these places gave me a new perspective on engineering and the importance of precision in the construction of equipment for the energy sector. I was able to see massive machines, parts that end up in power plants all over the world, and dedicated people who work with a passion that is hard to describe in words.”

Nicolae…,,Another highlight of this trip was the visit to Resita Reducers and Renewables. Here we discovered the manufacturing process of industrial reducers, essential in numerous engineering applications, such as trains and ships. I was impressed by the precision with which these components are made and the use of state-of-the-art equipment.”

Maxim 2……,,I was also amazed by the visit to Resita Reducers and Renewables where they were engaged in the manufacturing and assembly of industrial reducers. In addition, we also managed a trip to the heavy industry sector at UCM Reșița.”

Cristian……,,At Resita Reducers and Renewableswe were greeted with openness and professionalism. We were shown the manufacturing line and the processes behind production were explained to us. The highlight of the visit was the photovoltaic solar park they manage – a clear example of the direction renewable energy is taking in modern industry.”

Vladimir……,,After this experience I realized, just like Mr. Aurel from Resita Reducers and Renewables said, that we must always be active and, above all, curious to be able to learn new things and that we are like a sponge that is ready to absorb a lot of information.”

Xenia….,,I discovered how industrial reducers are produced, essential in many fields. I liked the precision with which these mechanical components are made and tested.”
